Ownership & authenticity
Is Midnight Dreaming Aboriginal owned?
Yes. Midnight Dreaming is 100% Aboriginal-owned, founded and run by Renae Lamb, a Wiradjuri/Wongaibon artist and designer based in Newcastle NSW on Awabakal and Worimi Country. Not licensed, not a collaboration with a non-Indigenous label — hers.
Who designs the artwork?
Renae does. Every artwork on every garment is her own painting. No stock motifs, no clip art, no generative AI, no designs bought in. Where a piece began as a specific painting, that painting is shown with it.
Where are your products designed?
Designed in Newcastle NSW and posted from here. Production sits across a small group of manufacturing partners, and part of the range is made on demand so nothing is over-made. Renae is progressively bringing more of the range in-house.
What is the story behind each design?
Each one is different, and each one is written on the piece’s own page rather than flattened into a single brand story. Storylines is the pathways of the Ancestors. Blue Water Dreaming is saltwater Country. Where a design belongs to a collection, the full story sits on the collection page.
Shipping & returns
Do you ship Australia-wide?
Yes, anywhere in Australia. Tracked standard post is $15 for the first piece and $5 for each extra one, added at checkout. Orders are packed and posted from Newcastle within two business days.
Do you ship internationally?
Not through the online checkout yet — the store is set up for Australian addresses so shipping and duties are honest rather than a surprise on your doorstep. International orders are taken by arrangement: send a general enquiry with what you want and where you are, and you get a quote before anything is charged.
How long does shipping take?
Standard post is 3–7 business days across most of Australia. Remote and regional addresses take longer, and the tracking will tell you where it is. Original artworks are packed and freighted individually and quoted per work.
What is your returns and exchange policy?
Any piece that arrives damaged or faulty is replaced. Email the studio within 14 days with your order number and a photo, and you get a replacement, an exchange or a refund — your choice where the fault is major, as Australian Consumer Law requires. Change of mind is accepted on unworn, unwashed items with tags on within 14 days, with return postage paid by you. Original artworks and made-to-order pieces are not change-of-mind returns, and your consumer rights are unaffected either way.
Original artworks
Are original artworks one-of-a-kind?
Yes. Every original is a single work, painted by Renae. Once it sells it is gone, and its page stays up marked as being in a private collection. Where a work is also available as a print, that is listed separately and clearly as a print.
Do artworks come with information about the story?
Yes. Each work carries its story, its language name and translation where it has one, its medium, dimensions and provenance — the same information shown on its page. Buying the work does not transfer copyright or the right to reproduce it; that is set out on the cultural property page.
Can I commission an artwork?
Yes, private and public commissions both. It starts with a yarn about the space and the story you want held in it, then a written scope with the size, timeframe and price, then the work.
Bookings & partnerships
Do you offer corporate artwork and licensing?
Yes. Commissioned artwork, public art and murals, uniforms, campaign collaborations and artwork licensing. Renae designed the Newcastle Knights 2025 Indigenous jersey, Nginhabulagu. Licensing is ICIP-cleared, with the scope, the term and the reproduction rights agreed in writing before the work starts.
Can schools and organisations book workshops?
Yes — schools, universities, councils, workplaces and community organisations. Weaving, painting, murals, cultural education and mentoring, built around your group rather than picked off a list. Purchase orders and invoicing are no trouble.
Can we book Midnight Dreaming dancers for an event?
Yes. Midnight Dreaming Dance Co performs at events, ceremonies, openings, school assemblies and community days, and has performed at Dance Rites at the Sydney Opera House and in NRL Indigenous Round. Send the date, the venue and the running time through the cultural programs enquiry.
Do you offer wholesale or collaborations?
Yes to both. Wholesale terms are set per stockist, and collaborations are considered where the cultural side is done properly — artwork credited, artist paid, scope in writing.
